I’m taking another photography class this spring, this one about portraits. I really like taking portraits, but I feel shy about asking people to let me shoot them. Especially since it takes a good half hour or more to get lots of great photos.
Thankfully, one Friday I met up with my friend and fellow flickrite Tania for drinks and a photo shoot around the East Village. Our assignment that week was to play with light, different sources and different types, with the model against a plain background.
I had a great time shooting Tania. She was very comfortable in front of the camera, giving different faces and poses. That made me comfortable directing her as needed. The best part is we just chatted the whole time, so it didn’t feel like any kind of work at all.
I think the photos turned out great, too. Fun times and good pictures: that’s a winning combination!
